In 1946, North American Aviation built a new aircraft based on the design of their successful p51 Mustang fighter: the Navion.

After losing money on all 1100 Navions constructed, North American Aviation was bought by Ryan Aeronautical Company. Our Navion, one of 1200 built by Ryan, was constructed on August 20th, 1948.
